Frankfurt

I had a whimsical trip to “Frankfurt am Main” in the middle of November with my great friend Sara. We only had one full day in Frankfurt but it was so much fun and we had a blast wandering around the town.

We arrived very late on Friday and grabbed some food from the train station. The first food we ate in Germany was a German pretzel which we both thought tasted amazing. They were made fresh and came right out of an oven. We brought it back to our hostel which was right near the main train station.

The next morning, we took the tram to the Frankfurt zoo. It was extremely cold during our visit to Frankfurt, so most of the zoo animals were either inside or somewhere where we couldn’t see them. To the left is a photo of the zoo sign outside the zoo. To the right is a photo of my favorite animal at the zoo, the flamingo.

After the zoo, we went over to Romerburg Square, a courtyard in the heart of Old Town. The square itself is very old fashioned, surrounded by beautiful churches and buildings that look like traditional German architecture. We got lunch here and wandered around the square, popping in and out of all the shops. To the left is a photo of myself in the Square, to the right is a photo of the large Christmas Tree they were putting up in

preparation for their Christmas market.

We returned with all of our Christmas-like purchases to our hotel where we grabbed dinner and warmed up for the night. We took the tram back out one last time to see the Romerburg Square lit up in Christmas lights but then returned to our hotel until the morning.

We only spent a very little amount of time in Germany but it was such an amazing and beautiful time exploring Frankfurt. The city is definitely underappreciated.
